I assisted my buddy John for his last wedding in NYC before moving to Georgia. Kirsty & Thomas came from the United Kingdom to have a New York wedding at Central Park. We started off at The Surrey Hotel in the Upper East Side. What a nice hotel! Then we headed off to Central Park for the ceremony. It was a small gathering with close family that flew in from England. We toured around the park for some bridal portraits and then headed onto the train to head out to Brooklyn Park to finish off so the couple can head off to their reception.

So “this has to change” as I told myself.

All these years I have been doing somethng one way and have not looked into other productive ways of organizing and effectively streamling my post wedding workflow. After a few back-to-back weddings in one week I was already burnt out.

So when they announced their workshop was stopping by NYC, I waited for the chance to sign up! I think I was the very first person on the list! (I checked each time afterwards to see who had signed up from their availability list)

So the overall feel of the workshops was very personal. You’re not left out of anything and if you have problems, Zach and/or Jody will be there to help troubleshoot. Since I was a seasoned wedding photographer, I helped out others as well plus I learned a lot of things that I can add to myoff camera lighting techniques and post wedding workflow. It was a perfect day for a wedding despite the blizzards from a week ago that had hit the Northeast area. Thank goodness it warmed up a bit to melt away the huge mounds of NYC snow. You don’t want to know what I mean by “NYC snow”…

I briefly talked to the bride & groom prior to their wedding and they mentioned how they loved LOVE this city that they live in. So my brain started thinking and all those cogwheels spinning…”What would be the best ideal NYC wedding they can experience WITHOUT going through the hassles and red tape of photography permits??”

Well, all I can say is many thanks to Meredith at the MTA Metro-North Railroad for the permit at Grand Central Terminal. I couldn’t have given the bride her wishes to have her bridal portraits shot at that location. Also another amazing place is the The New York Palace Hotel. This luxurious and spacious hotel is located steps away from the Saint Patrick’s Cathedral. Definitely a nice place!
